Baloo was right about those prickly pears :)
Not sure I would buy any of these again...
You CANNOT touch them and since your goal is to eat it this makes them a tricky food. They come from a cactus and are covered in tiny hair-like spines. I don't know from experience, but was told they are not fun and to avoid them. You use tongs and a fork to hold the fruit and a knife to cut away the outer skin. Once all threat of spines has been removed you can eat it, but then there are a bunch of tiny seeds inside too. Some videos I watched said to scrape the seeds away, but if you do that then there isn't much fruit left to eat. They didn't have as much flavor as I was expecting either. I think overall there are easier to eat and tastier fruits out there. It was fun for something new though and who ever thought there would come a day when I could tell the world that Baloo was right.
Now when you pick a pawpaw
Or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw paw
Next time beware
Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw
But you don't need to use the claw
When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw
Have I given you a clue ?
The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!
